Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Account details — your email address, used to sign you in and reach you.
• Business profile — the information you give us during setup (what your business does, your customers, tools, goals, and how you work), so the GM can tailor its work to you.
• Your content — messages, files you upload, and the documents, spreadsheets, pages, and emails the GM produces for you.
• Usage data — basic records of your activity needed to run the service and meter your plan.
• Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
• Connected business tools — only if you choose to connect them: Google, Jobber, QuickBooks, or Square (see below).

How we use it

To provide and personalize the service, generate the work you ask for, process payments, send the communications you opt into (such as the Monday brief and any standing-order results), and keep the product working and secure. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

AI processing

To generate responses and deliverables, the relevant content (your messages, business profile, and any files you provide) is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, which processes it to produce output and does not use it to train its models. We send only what is needed to do the work you request.

Google user data

If you connect Google, The GM requests the drive.filescope. This means we can only access files you create with The GM or files you explicitly open for us through the Google file picker — never your entire Drive. We use this access solely to provide the features you request (such as building and updating spreadsheets). We do not sell Google user data, do not use it for advertising, and do not share it except as needed to provide the service. You can disconnect Google at any time from your account, which revokes our access. The GM's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Connected business tools (Jobber, QuickBooks, Square)

If you connect one of your business tools, The GM requests read-only access and uses it solely to answer your questions and produce the work you ask for — never to write to, modify, or delete anything in those accounts.

• Jobber — we read your schedule, jobs, clients, quotes, and invoices so the GM can plan your week, flag overdue receivables, and follow up on open quotes.
• QuickBooks— we read your profit & loss, expenses, invoices, and customer balances so the GM can explain your numbers and surface where money is going.
• Square— we read your sales, catalog, inventory, customers, and invoices so the GM can tell you what's selling, what's running low, and what's unpaid.

Access tokens for these connections are encrypted at rest. We do not sell this data, do not use it for advertising, and share it only as needed to provide the features you request (including sending the relevant details to Anthropic to generate your answer, as described above). You can disconnect any tool at any time from Home → Connections, which revokes our access.

Who we share it with

We share data only with service providers that help us run The GM, under terms that require them to protect it: Anthropic (AI processing), Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery), and our hosting and storage providers (Vercel and Upstash). We may disclose information if required by law.

Retention and your choices

You can edit or delete your business profile, clear what the GM remembers, and reset your account from within the app. To delete your account and associated data entirely, email us at gm@thegm.app and we will process your request.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption of stored credentials. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe.
